About the Committee

“In 2006, the Human Rights Council (HRC) was established under a resolution adopted by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) as part of a large-scale United Nations (UN) reform plan. Since then, the council has taken charge of UN efforts toward developing larger freedom and security for all through promotion of widespread comprehension of fundamental human rights. Today, the HRC has become a prominent inter-governmental body of the UN that seeks to address international affairs containing signs of human rights violations. Through its resolutions stamped under the agreement of the majority of its 47 member states, the committee aims to encourage actions that alleviate pressure held upon the freedoms of certain individuals around the world.”
